An outdoor private dining room in a car park.
Not just any ordinary car park though, it was the car park that morphed into London's first ever night time street food market, Red Market on Old Street.
We were approached by Dom Cools-Lartigue (Street Feast) back in 2011 to work with him on a new night market. We'd not long launched our first Dining Room (Dom was one of our first guests) and Dinner Dances, and we were up for doing anything that sounded good fun.
Our idea was Summer House, a second hand . . . err . . . shed, that we picked up for £500 from a garden in Essex. We then rebuilt it, gave it a Farrow & Ball paint job, pulled together some furniture and opened.
The only problem was that the market got into difficulties before it ever got off the ground. Dom went off to launch something he called Street Feast elsewhere, and we were left with a souped up shed in a car park.
Not that it mattered. Stuart DDC worked with the team at Red to get the market open, and had a great summer of outdoor food and drink regardless.
You can just about still find Summer House, buried away inside Red Market (now Night/Summer Tales). It has since been used as storage, a green room, an artists studio, and (so we've been told) a love den.
