Google City Experts enjoy a great one night stand with DDC
We were approached by Google to host a unique, one-night-only dinner party for members of their City Expert programme. The dinner was attended by the most loyal and frequent users of Google Maps to review the best places to eat, drink, shop and play in the capital, and our brief was to provide an evening of food and drink like nothing else avaialble in London.
The location we chose was Lassco on Maltby Street, an architectual and antique salvage workshop and salesroom near Tower Bridge, and home to the terrific Maltby Street Market. Guests were given an address and time of attendance, with no other information about what to expect. After a quick introduction from Google and Stuart DDC and a round of Google Bingo, dinner was served in three locations around the building. Welcome drinks and canapés were served amongst the door furniture, starters were surrounded by archituctural lighting and bathtubs, a main course food table in the Eisenhower Suite (reconstructed from US Naval HQ in Grovesnor Square), followed by DIY desserts alongside prison doors, shelves from the Natural History museum and giant cushions made of coffee sacks.
Music came from our favourite ukulele band The Fleas, with a photobooth and gift bags thrown in for good measure.
