Georgian Coach House, Clapham
The Glebe House is a beautifully converted Georgian Coach house, built around 1825. A private home, photographic and film location, B&B and small event space, Glebe House is owned by Alix Bateman, interiors writer, designer and antiques dealer, who invited DDC to take part in her ever growing list of classes, talks and mini-salons. It is on the site of the original Manor House of Clapham, and the surrounding area was the original Clapham village. There has been a church on the site next door overlooking the Thames since as early as the 12th century, and is siad to be where many of Oliver Cromwell's army are buried.
Dinner was served in the the living room, which used to be a passageway through which the horses and carriages travelled into the stable yard beyond. DDC set themselves up in the fantastic kitchen, and Alix was on hand to show guests around the house. Rooms were also available should any one wish to make a night of it.
Dinner was four courses, and included a welcome cocktail. A selection of wines and other drinks were available to buy from DDC staff on the night.Glebe House / 6 Rectory Grove, Clapham, SW4 0DZSaturday 21st November 2015£55 per person / 7pm arrival We donated £1 per person for every ticket sold to Teenage Cancer Trust.
