A one table restaurant in on old Chinese take away.
In 2010 Stuart DDC decided to give working for himself a go, so he threw a dinner party with a DJ and called it Dinner Dance. To do more dinner parties Stuart needed a kitchen, which he found inside an old Chinese restaurant. Next to the kitchen was a disused take away, which Stuart emptied, tarted up, and called Dining Room.
Dining Room filled quickly. It opened every Wednesday to Saturday night, its 10 seats filled with private groups of friends of people that didn't know each other, sharing dinner, supper club style.
In 2010, the alternative London food scene was just beginning to capture the imagination of the media, and the public. By serving restaurant quality food, with informal but restaurant style service, an an environment that felt a bit like being out, but a bit like staying in, Dining Room offered something a little bit different and helped DDC become a steady, proper business.
The kitchen and Dining Room shut down in late 2011.
We loved it.
